Spalding.

Normally this would have been held in borne woods, unfortunatly they were cutting tree's so it had been moved to the back feild of a school in spalding, not quite the same but oh well. It was another cold morning with full winter kit on, the track was half round a flat feild and half twisting in and out of tight tree's down the other side of the feild, not a very interesting or nice to ride course but ohwell, it had to be done.

Again i was called up to the line first, and i got a really good start and just kept going from there up until about the 3rd lap when i had quite a nice little lead over the rest of them. Thats when it started to go downhill, i'd been having problems with my chest recently as i have asthma, during the race it got worse and worse and my lead was being eaten into by Jake Poole. Eventually he came past me with about 1 and a half laps to go, when he just rode away from me and i had nothing in return. I was more bothered about who was behind me, Peter and Adam were closing in and i just had to keep the pace up right to the end of the race to stay away, which i managed to and got a 2nd out of it, which i was quite pleased about seeing as though my chest was that bad, but all credit to Jake for a good win. I just hope that my chest will be better for next weekends national trophy at Ipswich.

Scunthorpe.

The 3rd round of the lincs league for me, and Sarah's first cross race saw the family heading up to Scunthorpe on what felt like a winter morning. In full winter kit Sarah and i started to check out the track, which is probably one of the best of the series to be honest. It's in the wood behind the track at Quibeell park, it suited me quite a lt which was a change, it was on a hillside, with one tough climb up ad quite a quick little downhill section which i loved. I never actually thought of the win on th way to the race or even when i was warming up, it never really crossed my mind. I had never won a cross race before and i wasn't expecting this to be my first!

I got te best place at the start being called up first to tthe line, the start was a buit hectic, luckily I got a really good start and was first off the line, Adam passed me but apart rom that i felt comfortable. I managed to get passed him during the first lap and then led from there with Jordan on my wheel. I pull away from him with about 2/3 laps to go and just kept pushing hard until i heard te last lap bell, which was a sign of relief for me, only having to hold them off for one more lap, with Peter Cocker and Jake Poole coming in 2nd and 3rd. It was a good hard race and one that i enjoyed which is actually quite a rare sight for cross as they can be truly horrible, but i liked the course and i loved the result, so all in all it was a goo race and day!
